Hey

I need advice on a sponsorship application that has been processed from Canada and has been recently sent to the Visa Office in Islamabad, Pakistan where we are afraid it may sit for a while or take a long time for my cousin to come to Canada. My cousin is only 9 years old and due to a fire at my Uncle's home in Karachi, Pakistan (dads brother) my uncle, his wife and his oldest son past away within a weeks time. My cousin Hudson who was only 13 died from the explosion within the 1st hour. My Uncle passed away 3 days later after my cousin Hudson was buried. He was in no state to go to the funeral and wasn't told of the passing of his oldest but i think he knew in his heart because if it wasn't for my uncle my 9 year old cousin Darius Gavin DeCruze would not have survived either. My Uncle passed away from gas ingestion and my aunt (his wife) a day later. My cousin is the only one that survived. My dad went back to Pakistan and legally adopted my cousin but this process was done there not here. We then did the Sponsorship papers and my parents have been approved as sponsors but now the papers have been sent to Islamabad. Darius was recently told about his parents death and is not taking it too good. We are very concerned and want him to come here as soon as possible because we believe being in Canada in a new surrounding around new people would make it maybe not better right away but easier for him to take it one step at a time. We've tried to contact our MP as we've heard of previous MPs being able to push cases like this and the process be really quick. We have had no luck at all but have been told that it is not within their jurisdiction. We are clueless on what to do so we can push this procedure ahead. Seeking advice desperately

How long has it been since he applied for his PR? There is not really much you can do. You could try to apply for his TRV or TRP in Islamabad to join you in Canada before he gets his PR. If that doesn't work, go to the media and tell your story. Maybe it will help push immigration a bit.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss, and the sad situation your cousin is in.

Is it possible to apply for a tourist visa that will allow him to stay in Canada as a tourist? Build a really strong file for his tourist visa application and make sure to tell his story. The boy is traumatized from the events, and staying with people whom he knows and who will proceed to raise him will be benificial for him. I would put an emphasis on that.

Good luck!

They can try the tourist visa (TRV) but it may be denied because the idea is not for him to be staying temporarily. If they are denied, they can try a TRP which is a temporary residence permit given to people who might not qualify for a TRV but have H&C grounds for being in Canada anyway. PR parents who have a child outside Canada and must be in Canada to sponsor it have been allowed in some cases to take their babies with them on TRP's. It is worth a try.

Thanks for your responses
I really don`t think we can bring him here on a visit visa. This is because he still has severe burns and will have to go through the medical test even for a visit visa right. Plus how much does a visit visa cost anyways. My parents are very hardworking people and when my cousin comes here they would do everything for him plus me and my siblings are their to help as well but we do not have big lump sums to pay for a visit visa and for the regular process as well. I just need a way I can get some of our MPs or government officials or whoever is in charge to push the papers from Islamabad otherwise it may take as long as 8mths and we don`t want my cousin to be their for that long. We do not want his health to deteriorate. As I mentioned before he did not take the news of his parents and older brother passing too good. I like the idea of going telling our story to the news papers - media. What do you think this would do......would it pursue govt. officials to help us out

Try your MP again. Your MP is supposed to help you. Tell them that your only other resource is going to the media. Your MP may feel that maybe they are better off pushing your case than having their name mentioned in the media as the MP who didn't want to help the 9 yo. orphan and burn victim. If your MP says they want to help, you give them a week or two to find out something and if nothing happens, you go to the media anyway.
