Hello everyone,
I like to share with you about my landing experience last Sunday and I hope this will help some of you with your upcoming landing.
I drove from Pittsburgh to Toronto last Sunday Jan 14 through the Peach Bridge around 5 pm. I did not have to make any appointments ahead of time and there were about 15 lanes just like a toll both, I used lane 12, because there were only two vehicles ahead of me. The officer asked what bring me to Canada and I said I am here for my landing, then he asked for my passport and also the COPR letter. He asked how much cash I was carrying and if I had any firearms. Once I answered his questions, he gave me a sheet of paper with his signature and asked me to park my car next to a small building behind and go inside to see someone at the desk.
I went to the building and there was only one person ahead of me. The officer looked at my passport and the sheet from the other officer I talked at the booth, then he asked me to sit down and wait for him to call my name. Five minutes later he called me and said there was a problem with my address, because I planned to stay in Toronto for just 4 days and I used the lawyer's address to receive my PR card once it is ready. He said apparently the lawyer's address is a business address and since I don't live there thus I can't receive the PR card. I said I am aware of the situation and I have talked to the lawyer, they can receive the PR card on my behalf and mail it to me in the U.S. once they receive it. The officer then typed something in the computer and asked me to sign the COPR letter in front of him, then he stapled the signed COPR form in my passport and said I was good to go.
The whole process was very easy. They did not ask me to provide my bank accounting balance sheet, a list of goods that I was carrying with me to Canada, immunization records, work reference letter, etc. So don't worry too much, just make sure you have your passport and COPR confrontation letter with you and a valid U.S. visa if you plan to return to U.S. after your landing.
I hope this helps and I wish everyone good luck with your PR application !
