My husband got OWP and Temporary Residence Status? What to do??

As part of his inland application, but husband sent in an application for OWP and he received it in February (good until 2018). However, previously to this we also sent in a visitor extension app just to cover our bases. He forgot to cancel this application when we got OWP and now today we received visitor record from CIC stating approval, but that it expires on September 2016.

What do we do at this point? He has an OWP, so I am assuming it is still valid and he can stay until 2018?? Should we be contacting CIC?

Any help is appreciated.
