my family is no longer save in my country. how can i get sponsorship to take them out from here?

go to refugee section first leave your country with your family and register with unchr or travel visa for canada and say to the officer i am claiming asslyum

thanks carol, but refugee section where? you mean online here or where?

Yes - there's a refugee / asylum section of the forum.

If you wish to claim refugee / asylum - then you have two choice. The first is to obtain a TRV (tourist visa), travel to Canada and then claim asylum when you arrive here. The second choice is to move outside of your home country. Once you're there, be officially recognized as a refugee by UNHCR. UNHCR will then select a country where you will be resettled. This could be Canada or another country. You will not get to choose - UNHCR will choose.

Do you mean getting the tourist visa? If so, you can expect it will be extremely difficult. To be approved, you must show you have very strong ties to your home country (i.e. job, property ownership, etc.) and have no plans on remaining in Canada long term. You must also show that you have sufficient funds to pay for your trip to Canada.

In that case unfortunately your only option is to leave your home country and move to neighbouring country. Once you are there, you'll need to get in contact with UNHCR and go through the process of being declare as a refugee officially.

It's possible there might be. It's hard to say without knowing where you are located.

my location is Nigeria. west Africa

You can try getting in touch with UNHCR. However I'm not sure they will be able to help you unless you are outside of your home country.

Thanks Mikey, i just relocated from Nasarawa a city in the North Area of Nigeria where my serving younger cousin who was currently serving as a YOUTH COPPER and due to finish service by June July was killed cold blooded. and my house burnt to ashes while i was away with my family to visit my old mother in the village. this happened just three days after Easter celebration.
The Governor promise us home and shelter but to my greatest surprise where we were taken to as as good has one who don't have a home. so i relocated with my family to Lagos NIGERIA which is lager as your question state. and presently squatting with a friend with my wife and two kids. trying to get a job for upkeep of my family. my kids are out of school at the moment this sadden my heart every morning i wake-up.

pls, if you do have anywhere you can direct me too, kindly do so. as i have a feeling you are conversant with the Nigeria metropolis. thamks
