Hi,

I received my COPR letter today saying that I have my PR and will be given to me when I land in Canada. The date on the letter is 24th November 2015, but my validity date, the date I have to be in Canada, was for the 18th November 2015. I have checked the letters and they say my application is obsolete if I do not enter CAnada by this date. But the letter was sent after the date.

Anybody got any advise?

Thanks

Hi

This has happened a few times. Unfortunately, you need to send your COPR back. Validity is tied to the date of the medical, so they need to extend the validity of the medical and reissue you a new COPR. Send a CSE to your VO notifying them of the mistake and that you are returning the COPR.

You may need to redo your medical test. You cannot land in Canada with an expired medical test result. I have seen medical result extended usually for those in the "inland" application process. Inland processing takes a lot long than 1 year to complete thus medical extension of medical tests are not uncommon. Not so for the "outland" application when timeline are much much shorter.

Medical extensions are very common for outland apps. It is very unlikely that OP will have to have another medical; others in this situation have simply had the medicals extended and the COPR reissued.

Extension of my validty

As reported on the forum, my COPR arrived in November with an invalid validity date. To update, I went for another medical only to find that the doctor could not put me in the system. My doctor contacted the immigration medical officer only to find out that I didn't need another medical and that my validity had been extended and to contact the VO..
I have sent an email to the VO and now I am awaiting their reply. My question is, I am flying to Canada for the holidays and should I inform the immigration office on landing or wait for the VO to issue another COPR?

Thanks

Since you are coming anyways, ask if they can fix this at the airport so you can land, just explain to them what happened. It's possible that the COPR is just a typo and on their computer system the correct information is showing. If your medical was extended then they should be able to see this.

That is a huge gamble to be making, landing on a hunch that it is just a typo on COPR. I wouldn't suggest this. I would inform CIC to send the correct COPR document before landing.

Why is it a gamble if he's going through anyways? They are the ones at fault here. Any info the CIC call centre has, the CBSA definitely has.

Even if it was CIC's fault, the border agent can still give them a lot of trouble for trying to land after the COPR expired date. Remember, CBSA and CIC are two separate entities and you expect them to be in sync 100% of the time?
