if you want to apply for PR and have him on the application as well. you will need to be either married, or common-law

According to CIC If your friend's temporary resident visa expires after he submitted his application for an extension of his authorization to remain in Canada, he will be considered in status as a temporary resident until a decision is made on the application. This is what called an Implied Status.

You cannot help him now to maintain his legal residency in Canada.

where is your BF from? is he visa exempt? can he just apply to restore his status in Canada? when did his visa expire? really need alittle more information to answers correctly...

Also, you are here on a work visa, how are you going to sponsor anybody?

She said she was applying for PR in Jan 2013 using her work history in Canada I would assume the FSW maybe PNP I don't really know to much about them but, in doing so she can include her spouse (husband or common-law) in her application.

you need to provide much more information in order for people to try to help find out what you can do!

1, what are the details of your status in Canada?
2, how long have you been in Canada?
3, if you are on a visa how long is your visa valid for?
4, what is your boyfriend's back home country? is he from a visa exempt country?
5, was your boyfriend a refused refugee? or....?
6, is he on a removal order? or his deportation is in force and he didn't show?

every case is different with information its hard to tell what you should and can do.
