Hello everyone,
looking for some peace-of-mind input; my mum has a V-1 that is valid for ~8 more years, and she is coming for the birth of our baby soon, so she only has a single/1-way ticket, and will book the return depending on when baby arrives. Do you think that she will have any trouble at the border, or flying through the USA? She is travelling alone and her English is not 100%, so I want to iron out as much as I can ahead of time for her.

Where is she flying from? There's a very high chance the airline won't let her board her flight without a return ticket. One way tickets can also cause issues at the border and make CBSA concerned she has plans to stay long term. She really needs to have a return ticket if she's coming her on a TRV.

thanks for the quick response! she is coming from mexico via the USA. she will likely face immigration again within the USA, so I will make sure she has a return ticket lined up.
