Your US employer can transfer you for a temporary assignment (with USCIS permission N-470) so you will keep your residency and eventually apply for citizenship.

so in what stage of my processing do you think I can ask our HR about co. transfer w/ temporary visa?!? in medical stage?!?

thanks!

Well since you can do both, I would suggest to do it the earliest possible time so you know what your options are and having a PR application will give you an advantage when you apply for the transfer.

God Bless!

BM

p.s. goodluck on the transfer!!

What is your current status in US?

L1A visa... co. sent me here since 2006... just renewd my visa last yr.

I assume your GC is in progress and you haven’t reached I-485 stage, if that is the case then you are fine with intercompany transfer. Check with your Total rewards / HR department for specific details.

My friend who worked in (IBM) Canada for few months was on H1b and his GC was in-progress (Initial stage), he also had Canadian PR which facilitated the transition. Hope this explains.

PS: If i can recall correctly, after 2nd renewal you have 2 years to sort your next step.
