Hi all,
1) I've just been asked to send in my passport to the Ottawa office to issue my PR visa. I find this very odd since I was told on three different occasions that my visa was going to be processed by the Mexico visa office and that it would take an average of 17 months (as stated in the official average waiting times list). It's only been 2 months. OK, I'm not complaining -of course- but I find this very odd. Are these kinds of changes normal?
2) Due to a family issue, I won't be able to go to Canada for at least another year but I'm still willing to go and settle in Winnipeg. Where does that put me in regards to the allowed "out of Canada" time? I see many forums posts where they mention that you can be outside Canada 3 out of 5 years in order to be able to maintain Permanent Resident status but I can't find any official documents either in the ones that I (or my sponsor) signed or online.
