My name is Taissia and I am 16 years old. I come from Russia but am currently living in Cyprus. I have been going to an English school since the first year of primary and till now (I am in tenth grade) I have been the top student in the class. I love studying and want to finish my education but I have a problem here. The people in Cyprus have arrested my dad about 2 weeks ago and they want to send us back to Russia. I only know how to speak and read a little in Russian but I cannot write at all. My first language is English, second language is French, third language is Greek and fourth language is Russian. Going to Russia will not be possible for me and my family as it will ruin my life and education because I have no knowledge of the language. The Cypriots can take my dad from prison at any time and send him back to Russia and I am afraid that they will not let me study here either.
I want to find a way to go to another country and continue to learn and study there.
I tried summarizing my story as shortly as possible here but I believe it would require much more time to explain. We have a Canadian Consulate here in Nicosia and I would like to talk to them about my situation but I am not sure if they will allow me to speak to them there without an invitation of some sort. My family would love to go to Canada and help me continue my education there as it is very important for us all. I want to find a way to get out of this situation as the people in Cyprus are blocking me from continuing my education and every day my mum and I worry about the fact that they might come and take us at any moment and force us to go back to Russia. I have been trying my best to use the Internet to find ways to get help and my friend told me about this website and gave me your phone number and said that Canada would be a great place to study in as I know both English and French very well.
Please let me know if you can help me in this situation. I have tried looking for many places and out of all of them this seems like the best chance to get out of a very difficult time. I hope you can give me advice and help my family go to Canada for a safer and more promising future. I am willing to do anything to obtain a better future and an education and I have so much hope while I'm writing this to you now. If you would like, I have a letter made by the principal of my school stating my grades and writing a little bit about me that I can send to you by e-mail to confirm my education. I will try my best to provide any information you ask me and I am willing to answer any questions you have.
