Greetings!
My wife and I are Canadian permanent residents and we finished our landing in February 2017 but we had to return to the US before we could plan to move permanently. While in the US, we had a child and we have only decided to move to Canada permanently now in 2019. Some questions with my scenario,

1. We have our PR card valid till March 2022. If we leave to Canada now, we will meet the 2 year minimum to renew again but it will be close. Are there any problems that can arise with this situation since we will only be a few months above the minimum stay requirements?

2. Since my kid is a US citizen, I know I can cross into Canada and he will be a visitor but I don't think he will have health insurance. Can I apply for PR for him from the US so I can get the process started before we get to Canada?

3. Since his visit will only be approved for 6 months, will I be able to apply for an extension?

4. When we finished our landing in 2017, we submitted a customs exemption list with all the items that we will be bringing with us. Since 2017, we have since bought more stuff, so I'm wondering if there is a way to update that form to include some more items? Or do the items that we take to Canada have to match with what we submitted perfectly with no additional items?

Thanks in advance for the help!

1. The date on tour PR card is irrelevant. It is 5 years from your landing date. It is very importanf that you meet the RO because you must be cimpliant to sponsor your child. You also could be reported at the POE but that seems evident.

2. One parent must be living in Canada to sponsor a child. Wualifying for helath covereage varies by province. In most provinces you would need to purchase emergency medical coverage.

3. At thr POE you can ask for a longer period of time but you can also ask for a visitor status extension.

Thanks for the reply!

Just to make sure that I understand, with the first question, as long as I spend 730 days within the 5 years from landing date, I should be eligible for a renewal right? So, if I leave to Canada by the end of this year, I will have close to 780 days in Canada before the 5 years end and I should still be ok assuming I spend all all those days in Canada. Do I have this right?

Thanks again for the help! I really appreciate it.
