Hello,

Please can somebody with such an experience help me out.

I am in the USA and my OPT extension will be over on 02/14/2019. My company is sending me to the branch office in Canada. So i got my visa (will get work permit on arrival) and plan on leaving by 02/13.

I want to go with my car but there are some questions i have.

1) I just paid the loan off for the car and the DMV says i will only get a TITLE in some weeks later and i have to be in canada by 02/15 to begin work. Can i cross the border with my car just having my registration card for the car? What should i do to make this happen?

Thanks

I have my drivers license (it will expire on 02/14). SO i want to get into Canada and do the exchange before that happens. Also, I have the registration card of the car and my insurance.

My concern was that without the title i would not be allowed to cross the border but it seems from your reply without the title i am good.

Thanks

So you don't have your driver's license? Most of the states issue you a paper slip with a new temporary expiration date and give you your expired license back. You should be able to cross the border with that and your passport. You may need your registration and insurance but I don't think I have ever been asked for any of those while crossing borders.
If you are worried about driving around with foreign plates, I have driven most of my life with foreign plates in and around a lot of provinces/states without any problem at all.

Sorry I meant TITLE not license.
