Hi everyone,

Im looking to move my case from the Amman VO to the Ankara one. Amman is a processing time of 24 months whereas Turkey is 11.

Has anyone done this before? How long did it take for the case to move? (one week? 2 months?)

Any advice??

Thanks all

I don't think you can move the cases, as you don't get to choose your VO. Maybe if you moved to Turkey they would move the application too? But I'm almost certain you can't just request to send it to a faster VO.

You can not move your case . Think about it , if we were able to move our application to shorter VO we would all be doing it.

You have to be a resident of a country before they even think of moving a case and then often they still will go by your citizenship if you haven't lived in that country long enough.

I don't think your husband qualifies to have his application processed through Turkey. To qualify, he would have had to have been admitted to Turkey on a visa that allowed him to live in Turkey for at least one year. Based on your previous posts, he entered the country on a tourist visa. So he doesn't meet the criteria to have his application processed through the Turkey VO.

Beyond that, most processing times are based on the response of the national governments rather than CIC being slow. While 80% of cases in Turkey are faster, you might easily fall into that last 20% being an internationally handled case.

I forgot to add that he is in Turkey right now. He entered on a tourist visa then had to claim refugee since things in Iraq became worse. We moved there together on Valentines day then ended up staying. I left in May but I have a return ticket for the end of August. We did his medical exam in Turkey if that helps in anyway?

Ahaha I wish that was the case, some of us wouldnt have to wait so long, but totally understandable. I've read other places too that he must have status but im wondering if they'll overlook that.

Thats where the problem is now. I dont want to take the risk of moving it to Turkey but having it fall into that 20% or worse, that it will get lost somehow on the way from Amman to Turkey. Im so confused.

Okay so Amman Office emailed me and asking the status of my husband in regards to moving my case to Turkey.

My husband is registered at the UNHCR in Turkey (Refugee status) After a month, the UN will give him a residence card of some sort.

My concern is that if it moves from Amman to Turkey

1) How long will it take to move it, do they mail it?
2) What if it gets lost?
3) Will they treat his case differently because it has been moved?
4) Will my case start from the beginning in regards to processing times.
5) Does it matter that my husband is a refugee?

Anyone know?

*This is all so confusing.*

If he gets transferred to Ankara, they will treat his case differently than the average Turkish applicant because he has refugee status. How much impact it will have i'm not sure.
