Hello,

i mailed my application in Calgary then I moved to Montreal. I updated my address in Montreal, i called IRCC and was told that my file will be transferred to Montreal. Will that cause delays in the process of my citizenship ? I was told that I could write a letter to the Calgary office and asked them to not transfer my file. I have to provide a reason and they would decide if they would transfer it or not
Which reason can I provide ?

Why do you want to keep it in Calgary? This just causes your application to be non routine and then the processing times will not apply to your application.

You risk just adding noise to your application. What if Calgary already sent it to Montreal? Do they send it back? Then it has to be picked up by another officer in Calgary who has already started working on other applications.

Thank you! I’ll leave it in Montreal! I’m leaving Canada because of some personal health issues and will be outside of Canada for the next few months. If I get the invitation for the citizenship test, can I pass it in Calgary ? Or do i have to be in Montreal ?

You can attend the test anywhere within Canada.
