Hi all, first time poster here.

I have just today received email confirmation of my PR approval!

Full deets: I applied in the UK for PR under the family sponsorship program, in Feb 21. My common-law partner S, is Canadian and we lived together in the UK when we applied. In late June we moved to west coast Canada, with me entering as a visitor (NB: this was only allowed because I was travelling with S, and though allowed I had to really talk my way into the country...do not recommend!). The plan was to holiday while waiting for PR approval.

In late July I got a message that approval was imminent, and I needed to submit a passport scan and photos to the London office to receive CoPR. The instructions were however to get in touch if I was now in Canada. I duly did, and after a few weeks I was asked for my new address in Canada, so a Canadian office could take up the application.

I heard nothing more until around a month later, when I was sent the same message as above, but now as a "Final reminder" and that if i didn't submit the relevant photos etc, my application my be refused in 30 days.

Ok so I got in touch again with the London office, and tried the Canadian office too. No response from the former, and then an automated message from the latter, saying that they are prioritising Afghanistan cases.

Slightly worried, and to hedge my bets, I organised for UK family to send the photos etc to London and within a couple of days I now have my confirmation latter, with the official CoPR following to my UK address.

The problem is what to do now? Should I fly back to the UK just to pick up my PR documents and re-enter? Or should I have them sent here, and then try a US border hop? (I'm in Vancouver) Or try go to an embassy and sort this mess out?

Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks!

I think your options are to notify IRCC and wait for them to sort it out (which you've made considerably more complicated), OR, travel to UK/get docs sent to you and border hop.

Personally I'd have the docs sent and border hop (with no knowledge whatsoever of the US border regime right now though so that may be completely wrong). Or go to UK and travel back (again, don't follow the quarantine stuff there either).

I imagine the best strategy would be to fly back to the UK, collect the COPR and then return to Canada and land. If you’re fully vaxxed there will be no quarantine in either direction and after the 4th October you won’t need a pre-flight test to enter the UK, just a day 2 arrival test. Obviously these things can change at any moment so double check everything before travelling.

As a UK citizen you won’t be able to enter the US to border hop until november, as has been announced today, but depending on your desired timeline and your available funds for the costs involved in flying back and forth to the UK perhaps waiting could also be a viable option. Worth noting you may also have to fly as there hasn’t been an update on when the land border will open.
