mortgage with pay stubs

When I got a mortgage, I had to have an employment letter from my employer, two RECENT paystubs , recent T4. The bank ran my credit report , and all this was when I was putting 80% down on my property. Plus I had a long bank customer relationship history . So no, I’d think the mortgage issuer would require more than just pay stubs
