For immigration purpose its upto one lac us dollar in normal scheme and two lac dollar under liberalised remittance scheme. But the ceiling is total two lac dollar.
Out of this only 3000 dollar you can carty as cash rest either wire transfer or draft or travelers chq etc.

This is the limit for an individual.

Its for resident indians. For nri's there is no limit for repatriation. If we are migrating for the first time then we will be considered as resident indians only. Only in 2013 we will become nri's, if we migrate now.
