Hi all,

I applied for my moms TRV while she’s visiting my brother in US. I listed on the application that I want her to visit me for 3 weeks. (Too little a time?. Is this a red flag??) Her application was denied today citing that they are not convinced that she will leave in given period. We, however, did not include her flight tickets to Canada, in the event that she will get her visa. I’m guessing was that the reason for her denial of the application?. They specifically said no travel arrangements should be made until we hear the decision on the application. I could reapply

Should I increase the visiting time in her application?.
Should I include a flight ticket details?.
Should I include family reasons as I recently delivered a baby to make my case stronger?. (I was told not to include any family reasons in the first place?) will they be able to check my previous application and wonder why I didn’t in specify it?.

With a newborn baby it’s pretty difficult to get everything lined up and I’d really like for her to be with me here.

Appreciate any and all inputs..

Please let me know how I can make her second application look stronger.

Thanks

MNA2015.

How long has she been in the US? Three weeks is not too short a visit. We recommend asking for 2-3 weeks. I suspect part of the problem is that she applied from the US - it would have been better to have applied while still in her home country.

Don't buy airline tickets until you have a confirmed visa.

She’s been in the US for about a week now. Yes, we could have applied from India but since she was already planning her visit to US around the same time of my delivery for another family function. We figured it would have been easier for her to apply online in US as the timeline is only 10 days to process.. should I state the reason that she could visit her new born grandson in the reapplication?. I don’t know how far that will fare well.. I could also show her return ticket from US to India stating that her intention is to stay for short time. Anything I could do differently the second time around?.

Please advice.

Many thanks

What evidence did you provide in the first application to show proof of ties to India?

Her financial background ( bank doucuments and transactions in inidian bank account) and the house registered on her name.

Most likely the issue is she can't prove strong ties to her home country while in the US. You probably should have applied while she was in India. The only way to get information about the reason for denial would be to order caips notes but that will take 30 days. I would include both her return ticket to the US and the US to India ticket or just the direct return ticket from Canada India. That would be the only thing I would recommend but not sure if it would make a difference. Also make sure the tickets are refundable because she could get denied again. Does she have any other important commitments in India which prove she will be returning home. I assume she is retired or doesn't work.

Thanks @canuck78 She could have applied from India but we figured since she will already be in the US temporarly for six months our TRV for 3 weeks would be totally justified. She has no intention to apply for Super Visa. She's 70 and doesn't like to travel much. Her previous US visa were all approved. She's travelling alone my Dad is in India not accompanying her on this trip. I could cite that reason. They do own a property together I could present the deed to the property. Is it advisable to write to CPC Ottawa to shed more about on this case?. Long shot though..

Actually your father being in India is something you should include as a reason she will return to India but given that they have been apart for 6 months it is not as strong of an argument. I would also include proof of property ownership in India. Not sure if any other family members are dependent on her in India but that is another thing that could be included. You won't get an answer or any information about your refusal reason if you contact CIC. If they provided that type of extra information they would be constantly contacted. I assume they already are and you will probably get a standardized reply. Best of luck!
