In an employment sponsorship application for PR, information related to previous marriage and divorce (no children) was mistakenly omitted. Though it isn't a criminal record and hence there is no need to apply for pardon, I want to know the process to correct the records with CIC to avoid future problems, if any. Thanks.

Update your forms and send in the updated forms to the visa office, along with the required documents (divorce certificate) and a cover letter explaining why you are amending your application. You MUST do this because if they find that you have a divorce you did not declare, they could claim you are guilty of misrepresentation. The rules for misrepresentation are changing - right now it's a two year ban from entering Canada. The new rule will make it a five year prohibition from applying for permanent residency in ANY category.
