Hi All,

My wife is scheduled for an interview at Hong Kong Canadian consulate in June. One of the requirements is that she brings the original Birth Certificate accompanied by a photocopy and certified translation.

Well, she does not have a Birth Certificate, as she was born at home, like very many people around 40 years ago in China.

I remember reading something about this issue here on this forum, but it was a while ago, and I did not find it anymore.

For the immigration purposes she had a certified tranaslation document stating when and where she was born.

Any experiences or what should we do, please share. Any advice would be really appreciated.

Thank you.

I would contact the VO in Hong Kong and explain the situation and ask them to provide guidance.

My wife's mom was born on a boat...but then they went to the hospital shortly thereafter...I think she got a birth certificate...I'll ask her and get back to you.

On the lighter side, does the VO in Hong Kong need proof that your wife was born?? :D

Thanks,
Yes, I was thinking of that too. I will write them an e-mail on Monday.
