I applied for my work visa through a company based in Sydney (Australia) called Visas Simply.

My agent explicitly stated in an email that I had to enter Canada by the 9th of November 2017 to activate my visa. I am due to fly out in 24 hours to do this. I have been getting my documents together and have noticed that on my approval letter it clearly states (twice) that I need to have entered Canada by the 3rd of October to 2017 to activate it.... meaning I have missed the start date.

Does anyone know if:
a) Immigration Canada has some degree of leniency towards this date (would three weeks later be ok to enter?)
b) What responsibility my visa agent has over the issue

Thanks!

What kind of work permit is this? Working holiday visa / IEC? Are you Australian?

To answer your questions:

a) Generally speaking no leniency. If you fail to enter by the specified date, the visa is no longer valid and you have to apply from scratch.
b) No responsibility from CIC's perspective. Applicant is always held responsible whether they applied on their own or with the help of an agent. Important to chose your agencies / representatives wisely and always check the details yourself.
