Hi guys,

I submitted my E-APR last week and only just realized that I mixed up the dates for the only work experience I am claiming. In my study permit and work permit applications, I put the same dates (2012-2014) but when it was time to get a reference letter, my employer corrected the dates.(2010-2013)

Also, because I was in school during this period, I filled the experience in my study permit application as volunteer work experience even though I was paid and I have bank statements to prove it. The snag with the payment is that we are paid at the end of the session. This was a chance for the school to verify that nothing had been stolen or destroyed by student workers during the course of the session.

At this point, I feel like there are too many discrepancies in my work experience and because I already have an Ontario nomination under Masters stream, I might as well go that route instead of risking a chance of misrepresentation.

Please advise.

I'm in a similar situation. But I'm only off by a month, not a year and the duration of my experience isn't affected . I'm explaining that in the LOE since the experience was some time ago.

In your case though, it's years. You already have the Ontario NO I. Why don't you apply again since the CRA these days is low and you'll get invited again

If any of the months you used in claiming work experience was on a study permit, I won't want to sound like a prophet of doom but forget it. I was refused and many of my friends as well on that ground.

It was foreign experience

I'd be worried, especially as a member here got charged for misrepresentation recently for claiming something in his study/work permit and another thing in his eAPR.

Hello,
So if the experience is foreign - will it be counted ? I am in a similar situation. Going to to apply in FSW and did my MS in US from 2013-2015 where I worked as a full time intern from 2014-2015 while being a fulltime student at the same time (graduating in 2015). Will that 1 yr be counted towards my work experience ?

This only holds true if you were in Canada on a student permit. If you acquired work exp outside Canada and it meets the requirements of the # of hours etc to be counted as work-exp: this should work fine.

I was only off by a month. So I explained it in the LOE. Also, the duration of my work experience was not affected. In the end, my PR application was approved.

Hey there,
I have put it as full-time exp in my EE profile. Although I interned for 361 days but I put a LOE saying that it should be considered as 1 year of exp because its just 4 days short.

Ok I get it. I am off by a month too.
