Hello, I am filing my PR. I have a minor brother who is 15 years old and he is financially dependent on me. My father passed away 10 years ago and our mother is old and she is financially depending on me as she was a house wive when my father died. Now I understand I cannot do anything to my mother but can I add my brother as a dependent child since he is a minor and in high School and financially dependent on me ? Thanks.

No - you can't include your brother as a dependent.

If both of your parents were deceased then it would be a different matter. However since your mother is still living, your brother cannot be your dependent for immigration purposes.

I disagree. You can claim yr minor brother as yr dependent. All you need do is to show documents that the family handed him to you as along as he is less than 18. I know someone that did same for his brother but the brother was more than 18. He was adviced by the case officer that the brother was already an adult so he was removed from the application.

Prove that with published documents please. I believe that you are incorrect but I am open to being convinced.

The documents are legal documents. However, there is no harm in trying. The application will not be turned down becos of that. The minor will be taken out and the processing continues. I have applied for fsw 2013 on June 10th 2013. I claimed by elder's brother son age 5 and I have received PER. I may be asked to removed him by my local VO but what if it scale thru?

By "published", I mean CIC documents, from their website. You may have seen something that nobody else has spotted.

I sure hope you made is very clear in the application that he is your nephew and not your son.
