How do you know if you must meet it? Or does everyone have to meet it (and if so, what is it?)

You only have to meet the minimum income if you're sponsoring your parents. If you're sponsoring your spouse then there is no minimum income.

This is the federal 2015 table. There are other things that factor in. If you're sponsoring your parents, then you will need to read through the guides and complete your own financial evaluation to see if you qualify.

If you're sponsoring your spouse then u don't need to worry about your financial minimum and will just need to prove/explain how u are going to support your spouse financially.
