On IMM 0008 Schedule 1 form, I need to write my military service history. I dont understand is it only for active soldiers and combats or not?

I did serve in Croatian army for 10 months, but it was regular service, which every male citizen had to come through, between his 18th and 27th year of life. I have not been involved in any active combat. We never get out from our military station, except when we learned how to use a gun.

Do I have to fill this section about military service or should I leave it empty?

Fill up this section with details of army service, after the submission of all the documents to visa office, you will get another form for disclosing a lot of info about your army days. Your commanders name, nature of duties, period, involved in torture, any violation of human rights, any arrest etc etc.

But I dont know who was my commander. I lost my military card. I only know the period.
We were not real soldiers. We were teaching how to becom one for 10 months and than we went home.

Not only they will ask the name of commander, immediate superior's name also. You can try to find that out. Since you had military training they will ask that info. It is not now you have to supply this info, the visa office after your full documents will send you a form" Military Service Form" to be filled and sent.
