Hey.

Im 20 years old, Im originally Polish but have been living in the UK for around 6 years.
My English is in most cases even better then my native language.

Ive always thought England is a good base platform if I may call it that.
What I mean by it is that it's a great place to start living but ultimately
at least in my opinion it's not a nice country to live in. Sorry I do not
mean to be rude I just find this country not up to the same level as
Canada or Australia.

Ive been a Postman/Mailman with Royal Mail or a year and a half.
Its a temporary job in my mind before I go off to apply to become a Police Officer.

Ive heard from some of my friends that Canada is looking for Polish workers from the UK
that know at least some basic English and are ready to work and move there.
I CANNOT tell you how tempted I am.

I live with my parents currently, they would be coming too. They are full time postal workers
and are happy to stay that way. I however always had an interest in the Police/Army career area.

I have a few questions before I go ahead and start thinking about this seriously.

How is life in the Canada? I know the houses are a huge amount cheaper then here in the UK.
What are the day to day necessity costs like i.e. Food, electricity, water, petrol/gas? Things along these lines.

Im a huge autosport fan. I love my cars and I love working on them. It consumes most of my time. Do any of you know
anything about this area in Canada? Is it popular? Is it considered as a valid interest or is it something that you only think
idiots and boyracers are into?

I assume I would need a British citizenship to be able to cross the border. I am only a resident but I can apply for a
citizenship without a major problem. I assume the British government wont be too happy about me leaving shortly afterwards
will they? :P

I hear the healtcare is amazing, living standards are better, houses are a lot cheaper, but food and things of that nature especially dairy and bread are a little more expensive.

Please could you guys give me the most details. I really need to think this through and I would love you guys to help me make the decision.

Thanks for taking time to read this.

I wouldn't say health care is amazing - good, but not amazing. Almost everything is free. However sometimes there are waiting times because things are free. Housing isn't cheap compared to income (especially in large cities). Canada's housing prices are at a peak right now. Petrol is cheaper in Canada than in the UK. Many find the food / milk prices expensive - same goes for clothing, electronics, etc.

There are many autosport fans in Canada. Two of my good friends competed in the Dakar Rally two years ago (they did this on their own - they weren't part of a professional team). Don't street race - it's illegal. When they catch people street racing here they often take away your car permanently and hit you with a big fine to boot (plus your car insurance goes through the roof). Speaking of which, car insurance is expensive here (not sure how expensive in comparison to the UK).

Note that your parents won't be able to come with you by default - in other words, you won't be able to include your parents in your application to immigrate. If they wish to immigrate to Canada as well - they will have to qualify and apply independently.
