Hello,

My husband and I are currently sifting through the VISA process in order to live and work in Calgary for two years.
-I am applying for the Working Holiday Visa. They have requested a Police Certificate. How can I obtain one, and is there a specific certificate that I need to get?
- We both have a valid drivers licence for Australia. Will this suffice to be used in Alberta, Canada or do we need to get an International Drivers Licence?
- My husband is waiting on approval for a Young Professional Visa. If it isn't approved by the time of his flight, can he activate it while he is residing in Canada, or will he need to leave the country and come back in again?

Many thanks for all of your help

- After a certain number of days (90?) you will need to obtain Alberta drivers licenses.
- He will have to leave the country and re-enter to activate it. He can do this at a US/Canada land border rather than flying out of the country and back in.

Thank you :). So as we are going for more than 90 days, we should purchase an international drivers licence before we go? Or does Alberta require you to acquire one over there?

I have a Canadian (New Brunswick) Licence and currently in ACT, Australia. Obtaining an Australian driver's licence was straight forward because of the mutual agreement between the two countries.

You will exchange your Australian license for an Albertan one. More information here: http://www.servicealberta.gov.ab.ca/non-alberta-licences.cfm
