My medical was done dec 2010, my application was sent march 2011, i got aip april 2012, i was told by the local cic offices that they sometimes waiver the 12 month medical expiry if there is no initial concerns.

I would wait for them to request renewal.

The waiver applies only to Inland applicants and Outland applicants who can prove they have been resident in Canada since they had their medical done. It is not applied to Outland applicants residing outside Canada.

Thanks also Charlie.. very helpful! We will get another done.

Bilbol11, don't be anxious, if your application look like good, the visa office will send you( or to your applicant) a letter to go for a re-med exam. My wife has experienced this way. Look: her first medical exam expired in oct. 2011. the visa office sent a letter on march 27,2012 for a re-med exam. On ECAS, on may 15, 2012 (this week) they wrote: medical exams received (done). Now we are waiting the decision from the VO. Good luck and be patient.

our case is an exception, because they schedule for a new interview after our visit to the visa office to clear our case. On ECAS, on march 12,2012, our case was ( in process). On march 27,2012. My wife has received the letter for the re-med.

Depends on what the processing office decides. Most likely, if you've not received a passport request yet, you're going to end up having to redo the medical because they don't normally submit a request for passports when there's only a month left on your medicals. It would not allow you enough time to get your passport there and back, and to enter Canada to land, because (without an extension on the medical) your Confirmation of Permanent Residence would not be valid for long enough. It expires the same date as the one year anniversary of your medical exam, or the expiration date of your passport - whichever comes first.

exactly :)

On may 15, on ECAS, we can read: medicals results received, now we are waiting for the decision (3 to 6 weeks, i think) good luck everybody.

Just saw this thread pop back up top. You may find the recent CIC Bulletin interesting - if medical exams were completed within the last 15 months and they are the only thing missing before the application is approved, visa officers can request a review so their validity is extended an additional 12 months. I posted additional details and links to the CIC Bulletin over in this thread.

It depends on how far along the rest of your case is. They can request the additional 12 month extension as long as they complete processing everything else within 15 months of your initial medical exam so hopefully everything else will be done by then. Hopefully it works out for you :)
