Mexican to Canadian PR

My partner was just approved for PR and has not submitted his photo and mailing address. We’re worried because he was planning to go home for the holidays and isn’t sure if he can re-enter Canada without holding his PR card/if his entry visa (eTA) would still be valid. If anyone has insight that would be amazing!

We’re worried because he was planning to go home for the holidays and isn’t sure if he can re-enter Canada without holding his PR card/if his entry visa (eTA) would still be valid. If anyone has insight that would be amazing!

eTAs are generally canceled in the system once someone has become a PR. He should assume the eTA will show invalid in the system to the airlines and it won't be possible to use this to fly home.

Options are:
- Apply for a PRTD once outside of Canada and fly home on the approved PRTD
- Fly to the US and then re-enter Canada through a land border
