Hello! I am wondering if what kind of help a member of parliament can give in terms of immigration process? I read some posts saying that they will ask their mp to help them .... i wonder if we can do that as well.

All I can say is that visa offices are required to reply to parliamentary requests, and usually do so within a week or so, whereas they are not required to reply to our emails, at least with substantive information. Whether an MP checking in for you will actually lead to some progress faster than what would otherwise come......it's not provable, but I happen to think it can't hurt as these are the people that give them their budgets and set the legislation that affects their work.

Thank you for the response. I'll try to contact our MP too... like what you have said it won't hurt... ;D. Sometimes it is just so frsutrating thinking about this whole immigration process :(

Yes, it's pretty frustrating.

I just wanted to add that, while I don't know the particulars for your case, MPs will often not agree to help if it looks like one's processing time is fairly routine. I don't know if that's the case with your inland application. I also suggest ordering FOSS notes before contacting an MP in the future because that is another layer of information on the processing of your file that you are able to get without yourself or anyone doing an inquiry with the immigration officer working on your file.

Our file was transferred from Vegreville(submitted Nov. 2010) to edmonton.... after 11 months of agony of waiting and waiting and waiting, they just transferred it last October of 2011... (reasons? age gap of 32 years, having a dependent child in my home country) we ordered foss notes already and answered every remarks IO put there.... Our first submission was in Nov, then another one in Dec. then another one last month and now we are preparing for Feb. submission.

So frustrating because couple like us who has a genuine marriage suffer because of those bogus ones! :( SO UNFAIR!!!!!!!!!! :(

Okay, thanks for clearing that up. I feel for you. Apparently those IOs can be just as frustratingly picky at the inland offices as they can be at the embassies. Best of luck.

Canada-India
Inland Application Filed 2010
Vegreville received our file October, 2010
They started processing our file November, 2010
Our File was transferred to our local office August, 2011
No decision on OWP or First Stage yet as at March 16, 2012

Is there anyone else out there besides CharmaineFrances and myself that applied in 2010 and had their file transferred to the local office and are still waiting?
