Hi all,

I am a little confused as I need to complete a Medical for Spousal Sponsorship. I take it that this is up-front? Also I do not have any IME or UCI numbers, as I take it these only come if CIC ask for a Medical?

If anyone could assist it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

If you're applying Outland, the medical has to be upfront. It's valid for one year, so many suggest booking it with a CIC approved doctor as close to sending your application as possible. The doctor will give you a "receipt", on it will be a barcode and information that CIC uses to access your medical results. You send the receipt in with your application.

If you're doing Inland, you wait for CIC to request that you do the medical.

Your UCI number is given to you after you've sent in your application and received AOR.

Thank you, Marlasinger.

So I am going Outland so I guess I would not need any IME or UCI numbers.

Unless you've made a previous immigration application of some sort you won't have a UCI number. Once you file the application, both the sponsor and the principal applicant will be assigned one by CIC.
