Since my parents were to extend their visit visa, i thought of having them take upfrontT medical since i'm expecting the request for PR medical to come soon, which now we received. So we already started their medicals here in Toronto since 3 weeks or so ago though not yet finished.

Now my question, Has anybody's parents been asked for additional test during medical exam? Today my father is being asked for a cardiologist report which includes several test like echocardiography, resting ecg, exercise ecg, cardiac ecg and nuclear test. They are here in canada on visit visa, I still don't have the exact cost but after checking a few from the Internet those tests costs a fortune! We may end up paying about $5000. Back home he was not asked to do these tests, he had medical before he came here in Dec 2013.

I'm thinking of changing different doctor to see if they will require the same thing... Though I'm not sure if it's a good idea...I just thought I have the option to change, since the current medical exam has not been submitted yet and I can request to just close the file...I know I have to risk him being asked the same test again plus new medical fee cost...Any thoughts?....thanks.

Hi there,

Unfortunately i dont have answer to your question however may be you can help me answer my question. I would appreciate it.

I had sponsored my parents in June 2010 and was asked to submit all documents to CPC Mississauga in July 2014 which I did. Then I received another letter stating all documents are in order and CIC will contact me if anything is required. I received this letter in the mail in Dec 2014. I received an email on Feb 18 stating a decision is made on my application and I have qualified to sponsor my parents. It also says the file is transfer to CPC Ottawa.

Its almost 2 months now and I haven't heard anything. I emailed them but no reply. You mentioned you received PR for your parents recently, based on my timeline can you comment when can i expect to hear anything from them? I guess now they just need to send the request for passport and medicals.

Thanks,

No actually, not PR yet but rather medical request for PR for my parents and dependents (or so I guess only email attachment missing)...

Anyways, it seems to me our timeline is similar so maybe you will receive your sponsorship approval soon (got mine today dated March 31) or I think you already did in February, while my parents med request was emailed early today April 9. Just be patient & it will come soon. Btw, my parents got the MR from my dad's email. Check your parents email.

You may want to joint the "2010 Parents sponsorship applicants join here" thread so you may see what's going on with similar timeline application, there's even a spreadsheet created to monitor progress (which is included in my signature - check it out)....

Is the doctor requesting or CIC requesting.

If it is the doctor, you may want to call CIC and get clarification. Not to accuse, but sometimes doctors are just greedy and if they can get away with it they might.

Not sayinf you do or don't need those tests, but it seems like a lot without any reasoning behind it. Did the doctor notice something that might warrent more tests?

It was the examining doctor who requested it, though she will not perform it herself but was referred to a specialist. Im guessing because of his current medications for BP & some blood thinners/thickers, also his age is 80, maybe that's why she ask for the test. I double check with my dad re his medical done back home, although he was not asked to perform tests, his cardiologist signed something with regards to status of his health.

I guess it's almost the same here in Toronto only that he doesn't have his own cardiologist to attest & sign for his health thus the request...

... He will just continue to finish the test without changing medical examiner I guess....

Thanks....
