I am working as family doctor in my country i applied under sponsorship
process started 22 February 2010 , 24 march asked for passport ,
18 April they sent me this email:

This refers to your application for permanent residence in Canada.

We are pleased to inform you that your visa has now been issued. You are kindly required to come in person on April 29, 2010 from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm to pick up your passport and to sign your medical surveillance form.

Thank you for your cooperation.

is that means i have infectious disease or because my occupation as doctor and in contact with patients they asked for the medical surveillance????? (as i know i dont have any infectious diseases , now or ever in the past !!!

It has nothing to do with your occupation.

You probably have an inactive ailment (e.g. latent TB) and you'd be required to visit the doctor for follow up. It's not a big deal; It does not affect your landing...just an addition form and task you have to follow up on.
 
thax prof456 but i never ever had any symptoms suggesting TB , u know i am a doctor... i am sure , may be it was an error in the laboratory result...
dont know ,,,, but guessing.

Inactive TB does not show any symptoms. You may have had TB in the past which left a scar on your lung(s) that the X-ray picked up. Sometimes, the doctors are overzealous and may have interpreted an "abnormality" on the X-ray as a scar. When you go for the surveillance, you can opt to take another X-ray so that you nail down the root cause and treat appropriately.

Please not that medical surveillance does not only mean you may have inactive TB. Your letter should state the "ailment".
