Hello,

I am the principal applicant and we have recd our second AOR in June. My spouse is being asked to go abroad on a project abroad for about 6 months from next month. My query is incase we get a medical request during that time how do we go about it if he is not in India? I know that the doctors are available in all the countries. But where is he supposed to submit the medical reports and passport? How long do they retain our passports?

Is it better that I accompany him and get our file transferred to that country?

Thanks

Meds can be done in any country as per the designated list of DMPs from CHC. There is no restriction to do MEDS form the country of application. What u need to do is inform CHC of the situation. Even u dont inform CHC, i dont think that would cause any problem but keeping informed is better.

When it comes to passport...this could be a problem. Once passports are submitted, offcourse one can not travel. There u need to restrict yrself. Mostly it takes around 4 to 6 weeks...max.

Again, write letter to CHC and try getting reply before your spouse plans to travel

Regarding my earlier question, in which country do you think he needs to submit his passport and medicals i.e. does he need to send it to Delhi or in the country of residence...

Ultimately your passports and medicals should both go to Delhi if thats the country of visa processing you have chosen in your forms.
Your husband can do medicals in another country , if he does in another country then he's medical will go to Ottawa and then they will go eventually to New delhi India.

BUt passport is going to be a problem , he cannot send Indian passport thru courier ... from different country

Any suggestions?

I did my medicals in US last week and asked them to send the results to New delhi (my application office. since it was clearly written on my forms that the medicals need to be send to New delhi)

about passports, my husband travelled to US to pick them up after my medicals were done.

so you gotta plan about the passports ..medicals are not the issue

Any medicals done in US, or Canada will be sent to Medical health office services,Ottawa which then gets routed to your local visa office in this case New Delhi.

Also to let you know it takes longer for the local visa office to receive the medicals if they are done outside the country in comparision when done inside the country.

Your medicals can be done anywhere in the world by any designated DMP. However on your letter you receive which asks for the medical to be done , will be instructions as to where the reports need to be sent. So your husband needs to point out / advise the DMP to send it to the address specified and not necessarily to the normal address it is sent to. eg if your letter says to send it to CIC India. If he does his meds in london , the London DMPs would normally send it to the CIC London address but in this case you would want them to send it to the CIC indian address.

My letter from CIC had hand written instructions to send it to New delhi so i did that. And ofcourse i paid $100 extra to send it to india by fastest courier service

Thanks for replying guys..

Simon123, In your case were you living without your passport out of the country for the time your husband picked and submitted it to Delhi office? How did you manage to get them back to US? Would they not question that the medicals came out of India and the passport has come from India for my spouse?

One more question- the medicals are sent by the doctors directly wherever we need them to, but are the passports to be sent by us to CIC separately?...what is the time limit from the time we get medical requests and submit them?

Thanks once again.

I am waiting for passports to come back .. living without them in US right now.

and yes, you need to send your passports with the PPRF fee to ND by secured mail but make sure you send them after your medicals since you need them for your medicals if your taking your exam in US.
