Hello,

I and my fiancee would like to move to Canada. She is a medical doctor and we intend to move to canada after her housemanship/internship here in Nigeria. In the interest of getting a job, what is the prospect for Doctors in Canada?

Its a complicated process. Her credentials would need to be recognized in Canada before she could practice. From memory, it would likely entail additional schooling and internship that can take several years.....Don't take my word for it, but do some research. It's not as easy as coming to Canada and picking up where you left off.

She will likely need to do another residency or part of a residency and also pass numerous exams. The process is expensive. Getting a spot is very difficult. There is no guarantees that she will be able to continue being a physician in Canada. If she is a family doctor and is willing to practice in a more rural area the chances are probably better although she will have to pay and pass numerous exam first.
