LANDED..........

I have been reading about landing, and it mentions you have to wait about 3 months before you can get the Canadian health care.
It mentions at the landing interview they may ask us what we have for medical insurance for those three months. I am just wondering is it necessary for us to get a medical plan for 3 months, can we do this inside of Canada from a business like Sunlife or something?

Thanks for any info!

I've never heard of anyone being asked what plan they have for medical at a landing interview.

Not all provinces have that three month wait, so it really depends on where you'll be living once landed.

I was not required to get medical insurance while I awaited my Inland PR application a few years back. I suppose you can get it if you are prone to being ill or if you want it for a safety net, but I do not think it is necessary otherwise.

Thanks, I wasn't sure about it , I don't think it is necessary for us either I was just making sure!

You really should purchase some travel medical insurance during the wait time. Even a fairly simple emergency like a broken arm would cost you thousands of dollars without any coverage.
