Medical for Dependents

Hello everyone,

I'm a newbie at this forum.
I'm sponsoring my father & 3 siblings as his dependents to Canada (our mother died many years ago).
Their papers are already in Visa Office Manila and they are requested for medical within 30 days.
My question is, I have other siblings that are already married.
Do they really need to undergo medical exams (with their respective families)?
I read something that 'all' family members should have medical even though they are not accompanying the principal applicant.
Is it really required?

CIC defines 'family member' in the forms. It does not mean what it means in normal speech.
So no, your married siblings do not need to have medicals done. Medicals are only necessary for your father and the three siblings who are immigrating as his dependents. If you have any other siblings that your father could sponsor later, they should also be examined. This would be any child of his under the age of 19 (corrected), or who is older but still dependent on him.

This would be any child of his under the age of 18, or who is older but still dependent on him.

To clarify, CIC defines a dependent as under the age of 19, not under the age of 18. Older children can only be considered dependents if they rely on their parents for financial support due to a physical or mental condition.
