Hello everyone!
In order to save some time (CEC application process); can I undergo medical examination before CIC asks for that? Or do I need to wait for some specific form from CIC exactly prepared for me?

Thank you.

No, you have to wait for CIC to send you the medical IMM 1017.

Why is that? Lots of people do it ahead of time. The results rarely get lost.
Each situation is different and I think it's worth doing in some cases. For example if the wife gets pregnant before the medicals request and can't do the x-rays, the process would be delayed for another 9 months or so, does this sound fair to you?

Ciuvak, how does one get a IMM 1017 without CIC sending it, to proceed for MR ?

From the DMP's office. They have to order these forms from the Medical Office in Ottawa anyway. If you couldn't do medicals without the request, how is it that I was able to do it ahead of time for two work permit applications? How is that my DMP was able to report these same results for PR when I had done my medicals about 8 - 9 months earlier without a med request?

The only difference is the form you receive from the visa office is pre-filled with your information & photo while you would have to do this yourself at a DMP's office(if you do medicals ahead of time).

In my opinion, the only downside to doing medicals ahead of time is that they may expire before your application is processed and you may be asked to redo it.

Thanks for the clarity Senorita.

One basic doubt. Do the photos being used for medicals need to be same that we submitted along with the PR application to CIC ? As I understand, we need to submit 6 photos of self and dependants as listed along with the application. Another 05 photos to the DMP's office?

It is requirement that the photos should be recent and not be more than 6 months old. So considering this, the ones for Medicals could be different than the ones we submit along with the application. Is my understanding correct ?

If you are doing medicals ahead of time you would need: 2 passport size photos, your passport, work permit, healthcard - this is what my DMP's office asked me to bring.
The passport size photos you submit to the DMP for your medicals should be recent too.

Note that you still have to submit 6 photos of self and listed dependants with your application to CIC and according to CIC's specifications. This is a separate requirement, so be sure to get the size correct. I would recommend taking a copy of the page with the specifications to the photographer.

Specifications noted.
But still the photos submitted along with application and that ones used in Medicals could be different ?

Yeah, they could be different but specifications must be correct for photos accompanying application to CIC.

In fact, when you receive the passport request, they ask for 2 photos again(they will tell you the size), your height and eye color.
