Hi, I am an American Citizen married to a Canadian Citizen. I've been in Winnipeg,MB for three years now, and my paperwork to become a Permanent Resident has been in process for almost to two years. They requested that I do my medical over recently and yesterday I went. Due to my period being late I could not take the x-ray because he did not want to take any chances if there was a possibility that I could be pregnant. So I did everything else including my blood-work and a full examination by the Dr. He said come back to do the x-ray when my period comes down. Today I took a clear-blue test and Low and behold I am 2-3 weeks pregnant with our first child. I wanted to know what should I do about the Medical exam? Am i still required to finish? Will this affect my paperwork? and has anyone has any experiences they can share including advice? Thank you.

They want a chest x Ray not a pelvic one. You should be able to do this while pregnant. Tell the x ray ppl and I think they can put something over your belly. I had a chest x ray when I was a month or so pregnant and my baby is fine.

Hi, Thanx for the reply. I wonder why he told me to wait until i find out. I will def call Monday. Will this have any affect on my paperwork meaning will they speed the process up now knowing that I will need my medical? Thank you :)

Most doctors advise against doing the chest x-ray while pregnant since it can harm your unborn child. Yes - some doctors will let you wear an apron that protects the fetus against the harm the x-ray can cause. Ultimately the choice is yours if you do the x-ray or not.

Yes - it's mandatory that you complete the medical to proceed with your PR application and your medical for your PR application unfortunately cannot be completed without the x-ray. So your application processing will be on hold until the x-ray is completed.
