Medical Exam before or after marriage?

Is it acceptable to do the medical exam a few weeks or even a couple months before I marry my spouse or does it have to be after? What is the ideal timing of doing it in regards to filling out and sending the PR application and fees?

it doens't have to be after the marriage
keep in mind that it will only be valid for one year
the applicant will not be issued visa if the medical has expired
best not to do it too long prior to sending in the application
most embassies it takes aprox a year from the time you send application in to visa being issued
