Medical exam and sponsorship

Hi there,

I am currently applying for my Permanent Residency but I'm not in the pool yet. I'm already working in Canada with an LMIA based work permit. I'm the main applicant and my wife will get her work permit because of my status. Does that mean I'm sponsoring her? I'm asking because if I do sponsor her we have to wait until we can make an appointment for the medical exam.

You are applying as principal applicant, your wife as dependent...that's not sponsoring. When you apply for the PR, in due process, the medical examination will come.

Thanks for the quick response. So that means I can actually go ahead and book my medical exam already.
