what does a medical in the UK for an outland app entail. I've read that it's pretty basic stuff, physical and blood and chest xray. I understand that only serious medical concerns and possibly mental health issues will effect an app. What about casual marijuana use? Ya we like to unwind on a Friday night.

I can't speak for the UK.. I had mine done in Canada, but the doctors seem to vary wildly in terms of what they check. I just had him listen to my heart and ask a bunch of questions.. but some women had to have pap smears and everything. Things they have to check are your urine and blood, and a chest x-ray.. they told me it was just for STDs or other contagious diseases like TB, but other people have had them say differently, so I don't know if they test for drugs or not.

They don't actually tell you exactly what they test for. My hubby had his done in the UK - they took blood, did a somewhat thorough physical, and took x-rays. The doctor told him they "generally tested him for AIDS, TB, and other diseases that could put the population at risk"... but there are other things as well that she did not disclose.

I wouldn't assume they do not test for drug use, Canada has pretty loose laws about pot, additionally that is what your criminal check is for. However, with that being said, they have your blood and can do with it as they choose - so you never know. I would advise taking a week or 2 off before you go, I use vodka to relax on Fridays... works for me :)

They do not test for drugs.Only diseases and anything that might cause the Canadian medical to use up lots of resources on you lik HIV<MENTAL<TB any disease will make you inadmissable. So go ahead get the medical DOPE HEAD lol

They will ask you if you use any illigal drugs, and tbh its best not to lie to them! My meds were done in cambridge and it was your basic, eyes, heart, reflexes and blood and urine test then off to the local hospital for a chest xray.
However i believe someone told me if you are found to use drugs you may be subjected to psych testing (which you wont find out about until they request it at the london end midway through the process). I'm not positive on that one though, you'd need to double check if that was the full story and if they admitted it straight up or it came up in testing.
