Hello! I'm new in this forum, and I know that this question, probably, was made a lot of times before, but I think that every year is not the same.
I'm mechanical engineer from Chile, South America, and I'd like, the next year (because the actual pandemic), to emigrate to Canada, and I'd like to know, how is the mechanical engineers market there right now. I've worked over 2 years in the mining industry. Is there someone who can help me, give me advises about the process, to get a job, to get a visa? do you have to get the job or the visa first?
Thank you very much!
Have a nice week.

Mining is a very tough sector to get a job in. Mechanical engineering jobs are very competitive as well but you likely have a better chance at securing a job in a smaller or less popular city to move to. GTA is likely to be the most competitive and Alberta may be tough for various reasons but you’ll need to reassess.
You need to do a lot of research online about working and immigrating to Canada and the various programs. Your best bet is to get selected for an IEC which is an open work permit for young people understand 35 for Chile. There is also a trade decal between Child and Canada that you could look into if IEC doesn’t work out. Haven’t read it to see if it will help. Without really rare or in demand skills it is hard to get a job from abroad. If you are at a senior level an intra company transfer is an option for some people.

Thanks! I think that I'm going to read more about the IEC. Best
