Hi!

I'm working in accordance with a postgraduate Work Permit (open). It will expire in two weeks. As I know generally such types of WP cannot be extended. But I was thinking to apply for WP extension anyways just to get additional 2-3 month to work while being on implied status.
However, in case if my application is considered as incomplete and rejected it will mean that I worked these 2-3 month illegally and I would be a person with a lost status in Canada.

May I avoid this situation if I apply in parallel to WP extension and to visitor's status extension? I mean if WP extension is refused or rejected at least they can grant me a new visitor record.

Thanks for explanation!

as long as you are on implied status it not considered as illegal work, you will get the letter stating your new expiry if your application gets rejected. After which if you work will consider as illegal. You can apply for visitor visa also, but once you get approved then you are no longer eligible to work.

So do you mean that I cannot get a visitor's record extension and WP extension at the same time? My plan was to apply for a visitor record extension first (online) and to attach CIC confirmation letter to my WP extension application (on papers). Just to avoid a situation staying out of status.

Now I'm thinking probably it's better to send both applications in one envelope and to provide an explanation letter...

I'm not spamming. Initially I asked about risks to future PR application in case if WP extension is rejected.

As you can see now I'm asking about a possibility to apply in parallel to WP extension and visitor status extension. I contunue to ask the question just because I'm still not sure what to do. Believe me if I have all the clarity regarding my case I would find another things to do instead of chatting at the forum. so if you can provide a good advice I appreciate it.

1. There is no implied status applying for a work permit that can't be extended.

Regardless, you know you will be getting declined, implied status lets you give the window until the officer decides, i had given same advise to friends who's work permit was to expiry and had dropped the paper application , after he get AOR before the final decision was made on his work permit application,he updated cic about the same and now he has the work permit.so safe bet apply paper application for work permit, but in his case he want to apply visitor visa, if you get visitor visa, then you are no longer allowed to work, though you are on implied status with work permit, since you already had got the visitor approval.

So you advise me not to apply for a visitor status extension ans go just with paper application for WP extension. I got it. Let's imagine it's refused or rejected. By that time my current work permit will be already expired. I'll be without status. Of course I'll be able to apply for a status restoration. But as I know it takes a long time. If during this time I get a chance to apply for PR I'll not be able to do so without valid status in Canada. Am I right?

Once you get rejected you immediately apply for visitor visa, which has a week processing time.but after getting rejected you can no longer work.IF you are optimistic of having your application getting in next few draw i suggest you o this path, else you have way less points and looking a longer wait time, apply visiting visa and stop working after your work permit expires.

Got your idea. Thanks!

Could I please ask you my last question. From your perspective in my situation is it better apply for:
- Work Permit extension (I have PGWP that actually cannot be extanded)
- or to Bridging open work permit (in spite of the fact that I still don't have ITA)

Both variants are not ideal. I'm just thinking with which of these two options I have more chances at least to be refused and not rejected...

Thanks for your opinion!
