Friends,

I have been going about collecting job duty reference letters from the companies (4) I have worked in the past 10 Years. But as I read the FSW criteria and the OINP guide, I find that the maximum points are awarded for 6 or more years. So was wondering if I should bother showing any work experience beyond Jan 2010 (as I applied under EE in Jan 2016) - that is older than past 6 years?

Especially as the company I used to work for in 2006-2009 period had ceased operations and there is no way of getting job duty letter, but I have to show other supporting documents.

Lastly, with regards to the Spouse's work-experience, OINP seems to mention only experience/education gained in Canada. As my spouse has worked only in India, do I need to show documents relating to my wife's work-experience in India?

Please advise.

Thanks!

I would suggest that you can still claim points for this company in the following ways, thereby maximise your points. You may try the following
1. You can submit whatever you have - employment contract, payslips (or even salary account statements), relieving letter, Form16 s, Appraisal Letters, visiting card, copy of employee id card etc.
2. If any your ex-colleagues from the above company can vouch for your duties and responsibilities on a white paper, you can get it notarized along with their latest contact details (visiting card etc)
3. Prepare a Letter of Explanation stating why you cannot provide the Reference Letter requesting them to consider the above employment based on the above documents.

It all depends on the Case Officer, if he is convinced of the genuineness of the situation, he might as well consider your case.

Lastly, with regards to the Spouse's work-experience, OINP seems to mention only experience/education gained in Canada. As my spouse has worked only in India, do I need to show documents relating to my wife's work-experience in India?

Not necessary.

Please advise.

Thanks!

Even that is purely for FSW eligibility. You get 9 (1 year), 11 (2-3 years), 13 (4-5 years) or 15 (6+ years) points that count towards 67/100 on the FSWP grid - remember though that you can count only paid non-Canadian work experience acquired within the last 10 years in the same NOC 0/A/B. CRS sub-section of Skills Transferability maxes out at 3 years of non-Canadian work experience (even across multiple NOCs).

Especially as the company I used to work for in 2006-2009 period had ceased operations and there is no way of getting job duty letter, but I have to show other supporting documents.

If you're able to get to 67 with just 3 years of experience, you can certainly stop collecting more reference letters. The only reason why you would provide more reference letters for older work experience is to act as a buffer just in case the officer rejects some letters as invalid or not proof enough for claiming experience under the chosen NOC.

Lastly, with regards to the Spouse's work-experience, OINP seems to mention only experience/education gained in Canada. As my spouse has worked only in India, do I need to show documents relating to my wife's work-experience in India?

Not required.
