Maximum Extension time allowed to renew visitor visa (temporary resident) ...

... while waiting for PR application to be processed since April, 2014.

Once again renewal of my spouse's temporary resident visitor visa status is coming due next month.
Last year we applied for a one (1) year extension and we got it.
Now I'm thinking this year why not two (2) years? PR approval will take more time than that.
I researched everywhere on CIC website and there was no mention about maximum extension times.
Does anyone here have any knowledge or experience with this phenomenom?

I'm just spouting off what seems reasonable, so I'd wait for someone with more knowledge to come along.

I would say that there is no official maximum, but a longer duration would have higher requirements (for example, paying for more medical insurance). In general, I believe everything is split into "under 6 months" and "over 6 months".
