Hi Everyone :),

I have a small question which I would like to have an expert opinion on ASAP.

The questions is: "what is the maximum allowed and acceptable consecutive absence period outside Canada for a permanent resident by Canadian immigration law? How many consecutive months ? I heard that it is 6 consecutive months max and not more ...is this true or not?[/b][/b] "

Guys, Appreciate your quick valued feedback in this regards.

This is old information and no longer applies.

If you have been a permanent resident for five (5) years or more
you must have been physically present in Canada for a minimum of 730 days within the past five (5) years.

If you have been a permanent resident for less than five (5) years
you must show that you will be able to meet the minimum of 730 days of physical presence in Canada within five (5) years of the date you became a permanent resident.

You must have at least 730 days in Canada (2 years) in any 5 year period which means that the max. time you can spend outside is 1094 days (3 years less than one day). If you do however spend the max. time outside, you will have to stay in Canada for a full 2 years afterwards to make up for it.
