Hello

So I am trying to find the fastest way to go to Canada. I have a bachelor's degree in one of the engineering majors, but my GPA is not very impressive it is 72.8 (2.912). Which to the best of my knowledge is lower than the acceptable limit for master engineering in Canadian universities.

I am also thinking of MBA, and as a last option English study.

I just need your opinions which is the most effective way to go to Canada. Taking into consideration: The cost, the time from applying to the visa issuing, and what it may add to my career in Canada after finishing the course.

Thank you in advnace, I hope to be there before the mid of this year :D.

Note: I am of a Syrian nationality.

Definitely not studying English. Low chances of approval - and most likely no work permit or PGWP. Take a Masters instead.

72.8 % is not a low score by any standards for an Indian University.

The 78% cutoff that most Canadian universities talk about is according to Canadian standards where a passing grade is much higher than the 40% of Indian standards, provided you're not from a farm turned into an engineering college kind of college/university.

So you're very much eligible for a master's in engineering degree.

It's the easiest to get into and you get a high chance of visa approval (unless you put zero effort)

So go ahead and explore your options.

Thank you for answering...

I don't know, I don't want to keep waiting or wasting money for nothing. All universities in CANADA seems to have 3.0 out of 4.0, or 75% minimum GPA required.

Please advise me what should I do?

I think you should learn to Google and go through your prospective university's website

Here's an example that I'm doing for you. The rest you can try on your own.

Each university sets country specific requirements which shows how they translate minimum requirements for your country

This is how UBC determines minimum requirement for entry into master's program for applicants from India:

https://www.grad.ubc.ca/country/india

Obviously meeting the minimum doesn't mean guaranteed admission

Good Luck!

Dear Harvi

I know this that's the problem, my transcripts were issued from Jordan, here's what the link you provided says:

OVERALL GRADE REQUIRED
80%

What I need to know is, does this means that they won't even look at my application!!!?.

Oh I'm so sorry for assuming you're from India.

But yes, if your country specific requirement says 80%, they most probably won't even look at your application if you don't meet minimum criteria.

But hey, UBC is a very ambitious university so try the less ambitious ones

Look outside the top 20 universities
