Has anyone else applied to extend their visitor visa or to change their work permit to a visitor visa?

My temporary work permit expired back in June and I applied in May to change from a work permit to a visitor extension so that I may stay in Canada while waiting on PR - the processing times were approximately 50 days which meant I should have been gotten to around this week - now the link shows that it's 119 days! Not only that, but the online applications are taking longer than the paper ones right now.

Just curious to see what others experience was with this - I had no idea the wait would be (almost) as obnoxiously long as first stage PR wait times!

I'm not even concerned with the wait itself as I know I have implied status, but I need my extension in order to reapply for health care.

I applied for a visitor extension the first week of June. And they are working on April applications right now. Such a stark contrast to last summer where the processing time was around 60 days but I got my extension in less than 2 weeks.
Luckily I just got DM on Saturday so I don't need the extension anymore. Although I'm still here on "implied status" until I leave to the US and land.

So yes, I am experiencing the same. I'm sorry it's a burden to you bc of your health coverage!

Same case with me. This immigration is taking too long to process my extension as well. Trying to find out the reason but with no success.
My healthcare is also expired and I need my extension to reapply. Also I can only apply for My dependents VISA once I get my work permit extension. Pretty difficult times :(.

Canadian immigration sucks!!! :-[

My wife also applied for visitor extension (online) on July 22, 2015 and have heard anything from CIC. Her 6 months are due to expire on August 31 and eturn ticket is booked for August 28. We can change the date only once :-\ . 119 days is a long wait.

If you are in Alberta. You can phone ahs to let them know your under implied status. They will aoto renew it for three months. Not sure in other province tho.

Regardless of when your wife's 6 months is up, she'll still be under implied status because of submitting the extension. So, you shouldn't have to worry about her being out of status... but then you also say she booked a flight? So I don't see the issue if she's leaving Canada..

She came to Canada on 01 March 2015 with a return ticket. NDVO takes 16 months to process PR therefore we decided to apply for extension to be together here. If we get the extension before 28 Aug, we can change the return date.

I hope they don't get to ours! We're hoping to get our money back.

Good to know. Did you get an e-mail from CIC or checked it on-line?
