From what I've read on this forum thus far, everyone seems very helpful so I'm hoping I'm in the right place. If I'm not someone feel free to re-direct me. I'm helping my brother begin the process to marry his Cuban fiance and then hopefully the sponsorship to move to Canada. I have a reasonably good understanding of the process as well as some of the options around notarizing/translation/authentication then re-notarizing on the Cuban side.

I got what I think is a decent Template for the "Single Status Affidavit" however, I copied it from the gov.ca website and it's actually made for the Dominican. My question, does anyone have a proper template, that's actually been approved to use in Cuba and help us get the ball rolling? The one I have asks for the place and date where the wedding takes place and he's not ready for that yet but would still like to begin prepping the docs. I guess I'm not sure what's actually needed on the affidavit and was also told by service Ontario that a "Marriage Certificate Search" spanning 18yrs old to the current age would work... (which i tend not to believe).

Last thing, is the Long Form Birth Certificate required or would a notarized standard version do it?

Thank you

Here is a thread dedicated to those sponsoring spouses from Cuba. They should be able to help u out with what papers to notarize etc.

Hi, I'm in the beginning process where we are planning for me to go down to Cuba and Marry my fiancé.

I have no idea where to start. I really feel overwhelmed.

I saw the sponsor application on cic.gc once the marriage is completed but I am not understanding the 'interview' at Havana that people are referring to. Also what is the cost associated with the wedding?

Someone posted they got married in a hotel and that cost $5000 plus $750 CUC and $1500 CDN for the paperwork?

Can someone please help me?

To get a cost of marriage in Cuba you should contact a wedding planner at a Resort there as they will have the cost of the Notary in cuc,s and the required documents. As far as the costs in Canada check the Cuban Consolute website in Canada. You may also want to look at the thread on here Havana,Cuba as this thread was extremely helpful in doing the application for marriage and immigration I did not use a lawyer
